Can’t Wait To Get Home
by Bryan Gibson
I certainly enjoyed my meeting this past week in Florence, Alabama. The brethren there were very good to me, and seemed to appreciate the preaching very much. But I still got homesick. I was anxious to get home to my loved ones—especially my own family, but also the brethren here. So I’m back home now, but am I really? If home means being with those you love the most, then I’m not really home yet. I won’t be home until I’m with the one I love the most—until I’m “absent from the body and present (at home) with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). Jesus is busy right now getting that home ready for me, and when the time comes, He will come back and take me to live with Him (John 14:2-3). It is then that I can truly say, “home, sweet home.”
